Election day is just around the corner and our nation seems to be as divided as ever. I feel fortunate to be living in San Francisco right now. For the most part I see free thinkers who haven't been duped by the current administration. I have no doubt, California will go to the Democrats. Not that I'm a Democrat. I have never declared myself to any party. So I guess that makes me an independent. In the last election I voted for Nader, because I believed in him and what he was doing. I wanted the Greens to get just three percent of the vote to break up our two party system. Unfortunately, that didn't happen.
Does anybody remeber what it was like four years ago? We didn't put $200 billion into a foreign invasion. That's $200 billion that could have been used to make life in the U.S. better for its citizens. We didn't draw a line in the sand between us and the rest of the world. If the rest of the world didn't hate the U.S. before, they have every right to now.
I'm twenty seven and I believe this is the most important election of my life time. I've told myself if everyone goes out to vote AND their vote counts, I'll still believe in our system even if dubya gets re-elected. By no means am i saying Kerry is the perfect candidate, I just think we need a change. If Kerry ends up being a horrible president then we can try to get him out of officce in four years.
Food (movies) for thought:
Farenheit 9/11 (yes I know this is propaganda)
The Fog of War
Noam Chomsky: War on Terror? (This is a taped lecture, NOT a movie. But Noam knows what he's talking about)
